P4C is a powerful pedagogy that helps pupils become lifelong learners. It teaches students how to communicate clearly and think better for themselves. Pupils create their own philosophical questions and develop their thinking, reasoning and higher order questioning skills. P4C is enquiry based; students take the lead and the teaching style is facilitative. Pupils think critically, creatively, collaboratively and caringly across the curriculum, ensuring they evaluate and articulate thoughts, exercise independent judgment and have a greater respect for diversity. P4C is a thorough pedagogy with considerable academic pedigree. Research has shown that participating in regular P4C sessions has a real impact on pupils’ confidence, metacognition skills and overall academic attainment.
This workshop will provide you with an introduction to P4C, including the research and theory behind this pedagogy. Teachers will be led through a series of activities to introduce them to the practical application of philosophy in their classrooms.

(For ages 5 - 18)
